This project led by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) is an alliance which unites 99 fact-checking organizations from all over the world in publishing, sharing and translating facts surrounding the novel coronavirus.

Project

Led by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) at the Poynter Institute, the #CoronaVirusFacts / #DatosCoronaVirus Alliance unites more than 100 fact-checkers around the world in publishing, sharing and translating facts surrounding the new coronavirus. Launched in January 2020, the Alliance is presented as the largest collaborative project ever launched in the fact-checking world. The CoronavirusFacts database is updated daily. The goal is, by November, to have debunked more than 8,000 hoaxes pertaining to Covid-19 in 74 countries and 43 languages; and to launch a multilingual mis/disinformation database about the coronavirus.

Organization

The International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) is a global alliance of fact-checking organizations. Launched in September 2015, it monitors trends, formats and policy-making about fact-checking worldwide, publishing regular articles. It helps surface common positions among the world’s fact-checkers and promote higher standards through the fact-checkers’ Code of Principles.
