Fact Match

Aos Fatos
South America
2026

Project Summary

Fact Match is a real-time fact-checking tool developed by Aos Fatos, Brazil's leading fact-checking organization. It monitors live audio streams — such as podcasts, debates, and interviews — and automatically matches claims being made against Aos Fatos' database of verified content, delivering instant alerts to journalists and interviewers.

Tested internally and set to be deployed during Brazil's 2026 presidential elections, Fact Match helps media professionals counter disinformation at the moment it happens, before false narratives spread. The tool's long-term goal is to expand beyond Portuguese, making real-time fact-checking accessible to news organizations worldwide.

By placing verified information in the hands of journalists at the critical moment of a live broadcast, Fact Match strengthens democratic discourse and media accountability on a global scale.

Presentation of the Organization

Aos Fatos is Brazil's first and leading fact-checking organization, founded in 2015. It monitors and verifies claims made by public figures and circulating in social media, producing rigorous, evidence-based content for journalists, researchers, and the general public. Aos Fatos has built a suite of technology tools — including AI-powered transcription and a fact-checking chatbot — and was awarded the 2026 Rey de España prize for defending truth in times of digital manipulation.
