DigiMENTE Artificial Intelligence : An AI Teaching Assistant for Latin American Public Schools

Project Summary

DigiMENTE IA is Latin America's first AI teaching assistant co-designed with public ministries of education. It closes the gap between teachers' rapid, unstructured adoption of generative AI (78% already use it without pedagogical guidance) and the curriculum-aligned tools they need. The platform at ia.digimente.org delivers five integrated functions trained on national curricula: lesson planning, material adaptation, rubric design, curriculum queries, and an AI literacy course. Co-designed with the Hidalgo Ministry of Education (Mexico), it is now scaling with Sonora (Mexico), Córdoba (Argentina) and Ecuador's national platform Me Capacito. The first Hidalgo training sessions reached 1,224 teachers with 92% satisfaction rate, a 44% gain in prompting skills and 100% intent to continue using the bot. The project is funded by the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation with Konfront as technical partner.

Presentation of the Organization

Movilizatorio is a Latin American social innovation lab activating citizen power for socio-environmental justice. Founded by three women, with 70+ team members, 75% of leadership held by women, and 800+ alliances globally, it operates across Colombia, Mexico, Argentina and the US. In 2026 Movilizatorio received the Schwab Foundation Social Innovation Award at the World Economic Forum – the first Colombian organization in this category.
