Learn more about the concrete and innovative solutions, initiated by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), to support democracy by strengthening free, independent and reliable information around the world. "The Journalism Trust Initiative" In April 2018, the non-governmental organization revealed a plan to promote the implementation of journalistic methods, respect for ethical rules and editorial independence (i.e the Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI)). This self-regulating system aims to give benefits (i.e economic advantages and increased visibility), to members of the media that offer these guarantees. A "Pact on Information and Democracy" In September 2018, a Commission chaired by Shirin Ebadi (Nobel Peace Prize laureate), and Christophe Deloire, (Secretary General of RSF) launched the drafting of a "Declaration on Information and Democracy" . 25 personalities from 5 continents, including Nobel Prize winners Joseph Stiglitz and Amartya Sen, Peruvian writer and politician Mario Vargas Llosa (Nobel Prize in Literature), and Nigerian lawyer Hauwa Ibrahim (Sakharov Prize) participated. The ultimate goal of the initiative is to secure international engagement of states, private companies and civil society representatives in an "International Covenant on Information and Democracy". The Paris Peace Forum will kick off the launch of the political process.
