Ethnic Areas Support for Education (EASE)

Project Summary

The Ethnic Areas Support for Education (EASE) project supports continued access to inclusive, community-managed education in Myanmar’s ethnic and conflict-affected areas. Implemented by RISE and partners, the project currently reaches over 300,000 students through 23,000 teachers in more than 4,000 schools. EASE combines emergency education support with long-term systems strengthening through teacher training, community-based learning, TVET, non-formal education, mother tongue-based learning, and support for ethnic education systems. Working with ethnic education authorities, local CSOs, communities, and international partners and donors, the project strengthens resilient, locally-governed education systems for children and youth affected by conflict and displacement.

Presentation of the Organization

RISE is Myanmar’s largest locally-led network of Indigenous education organizations, working to ensure all Indigenous children have access to quality, culturally and linguistcally appropriate education. Since 2011, RISE has supported community-based education systems in ethnic and conflict-affected areas through teacher training, school support, research, advocacy, and systems strengthening in partnership with communities, ethnic education departments, and local CSOs.
