Paris, January 16, 2025 – The AI revolution is disrupting our lives and societies, and brings with it promise of progress while also raising unprecedented challenges that we must face together. To ensure that these technologies benefit the entire population, the Paris Peace Forum has launched a Call for AI Projects to support international initiatives that promote the well-being of citizens and the ethical use of artificial intelligence. This Call is part of the Paris Summit for Action on Artificial Intelligence, to be held on February 10-11, 2025.
The call received an impressive total of 770 applications from 111 countries, underlining global enthusiasm for harnessing artificial intelligence to tackle some of the world's most pressing challenges. An international selection committee met to choose 50 projects from almost every continent, covering topics as diverse as helping the blind and visually impaired, combating digital violence, screening for cervical cancer, combating hate speech and labor law. These 50 projects come from 28 different countries, including 22 located in the Global South.
The 50 selected projects will be presented at the AI Action Summit (10-11 February), to which the Paris Peace Forum is contributing as multi-stakeholder coordinator, providing an international platform for sharing and promoting innovative and inclusive solutions.
