Project Summary

The Hindu Kush Himalayan Region provides water to over 2 billion people. With increased changes in climate, this critical resource has come under threat. Water management through climate data is key.

Satellites4Humanity leverages AI, in-house satellites, space data sourcing/analysis, and web-based delivery to provide accurate climate data in shortest time possible. This allows stakeholders to enact policies, mitigate disasters and improve lives disproportionately affected.

By partnering with local (Kathmandu Metropolitan City) and national (Nepal Academy of Science and Technology) government agencies, the project has indirectly affected over 2 million people mostly impacted by flash floods, urban floods and air pollution caused by drought induced forest fire. If scaled, the project has the potential to directly and indirectly affect 2 billion people who call this region their home

Presentation of the organization

Antarikchya Pratisthan Nepal (APN) has focused efforts on research on AI, satellite technology and remote sensing to solve Nepal's most pressing challenges including climate change, disaster response and food security. APN not only develops the technology, but also works towards creating an ecosystem that desensitizes young Nepalese to technology that can take on Nepal's biggest issues. APN believes that technology - especially space technology - can be a force for countries like Nepal.
