Building Peace Together

This project brings together the three largest multilateral actors - the EU, the UN, and the World Bank – to work with crisis-affected countries. In 2008, a Joint Declaration was signed based on a core principle that early collaborative engagement under the leadership of the host government during the assessment and planning stages of crisis recovery is essential for the implementation and delivery of effective and sustainable responses to both disasters and conflicts. Based on jointly developed tools like the Recovery and Peacebuilding Assessment (RPBA), the tri-partite partnership continues to grow and develop (75 joint assessments done so far). In addition to developing traditional recovery and peacebuilding strategies it will also further develop its ability to address today’s increasingly complex conflicts, including conflict prevention approaches.
