AMSSA-AI is a pilot AI literacy and mentorship solution that supports elected women, civil society leaders and local advisory bodies to use artificial intelligence safely and practically in local governance. Piloted in Morocco’s Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, the solution combines a locally adapted AI mentor, practical training, human-centered co-design, and safeguards on privacy, misinformation, source verification and responsible AI use. The project has already mobilized 115 local stakeholders through co-design workshops and identified priority use cases for women’s participation, civic engagement and access to governance information. Through EuroMedAI, AMSSA-AI is designed for replication across Southern Mediterranean countries, with a Tunisian NGO already demonstrating readiness to adapt the model. The tool provided insights to 25 elected women and 10 CSO leaders.
AIDECA is a Moroccan non-profit association working since 1996 to promote inclusive local development, civic participation, socio-economic inclusion and climate resilience in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region. It leads AMSSA-AI to make AI literacy accessible to local governance actors and strengthen inclusive civic participation.
