Safecity – Partnerships for Safe and Peaceful Cities and Communities is a data-driven peacebuilding initiative that partners with police, city officials, and communities to prevent gender-based violence in public spaces.
We crowdsource anonymous reports to identify unsafe areas, deliver gender-sensitivity training to law enforcement, and foster trust through community dialogue. Operating in India (Haryana, Goa, Maharashtra) and the UK (Manchester), we’ve enabled over 50,000 citizens to engage with safety data, trained 150+ officers, and informed city planning and police patrolling.
Our long-term goal is to transform public safety systems to be inclusive, preventive, and rights-based—making every step in the city a step toward peace. Key partners include local police departments, city governments, and civil society groups.
We are registered as a Sec 8 Not For Profit company in India as Red Dot Foundation and in the USA as Red Dot Foundation Global a 501(c)3 organisation. It is a United Nations ECOSOC accredited non-profit. Red Dot Foundation works on gender equity, safety and justice.
Safecity is a project which was launched as an immediate response to a horrific incident in Delhi in December 2012 and is central to our work.
