Project

The Safe Trade model by TradeMark East Africa (TMEA) focuses on the post-Covid recovery phase, aiming to expand to the African Continent by mainstreaming safe trade across the continent to bouncing back better post Covid-19. This recovery phase needs to be de-carbonised and create and promote more regional value chains, rather than global. An independent evaluation of the first seven years of operations has proven that TMEA's interventions have reduced time to move goods along the main trade corridors by 15%, to pass selected borders by 70% and reduced trade costs by 10%.

Organization

TradeMark East Africa is an aid-for-trade organisation with the aim of growing prosperity in Eastern Africa through increased trade. TMEA is a not-for-profit basis and is funded by development partners. TradeMark East Africa is focusing on: 1) Reducing barriers to trade; and 2) Improving business competitiveness. We believe that enhanced trade contributes to job creation, reduced poverty and increased prosperity.
