The project ‘Effective Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) in a Changing DDR Context’ was jointly initiated by DPO and UNODA in 2016. The objective of this project is to enable UN disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR) practitioners to better support host governments in the design and implementation of disarmament and WAM operations as part of DDR and Community Violence Reduction (CVR) programming, which are in line with international arms control standards and technical guidelines. As such, it aims to facilitate the further integration of disarmament policy with peace operations practice, and to contribute to the Secretary-General's Action for Peacekeeping initiative (A4P) and Agenda for Disarmament, as well as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
