The proposed project will showcase, in an interactive way, how FB builds AI in its products from ideation to deployment, in a privacy and ethically responsible manner. This project demystifies AI by providing specific examples of how Facebook AI features are built, reviewed and deployed. Through a series of interactive presentations and exercises, this project illustrates the various steps, teams and processes involved in building AI at Facebook, from product ideation to deployment. The project will leverage real and existing FB features, showcasing how FB addressed various ethical considerations during their building and review processes. This innovative initiative will showcase how philosophical and ethical questions can be mapped all the way to specific and concrete product decisions. And it will do so by presenting ethical questions that were discussed in real product meeting rooms, the underlying competing values animating each of those questions, and the thought process and approach leading to their resolution.
