2023-24 Scale-up project
Overview
Anti-corruption efforts require an understanding of government structures and interconnected datasets. The Open Data Initiative to Combat Corruption identifies key datasets, standards, and open use cases that diverse stakeholders can leverage to tackle corruption at all levels.
Led by the Open Data Charter, a collaborative of over 170 governments and organizations, the project promotes policies for collecting, sharing, and using data to respond effectively to anti-corruption, climate action, and gender equality.
Project's trajectory over past year
Since presenting our tools at the 2023 Forum, we made significant progress in implementing the "Open Up Guide to Prevent and Combat Corruption" in two new countries: the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
We participated in the IACC in Lithuania, the largest international anti-corruption conference, where we connected with various partners and potential funders.
Our work was also showcased at UNCAC Coalition Civil society Forums, and we collaborated with the University of Cyprus to apply for a Google fund to enhance our tools.
Impact
“Open Data can help with comparing and connecting dots of corrupted funds moving between countries that otherwise would take an impossible amount of time.”
