Antarctica2020

Antarctica2020 is a group of influencers from the world of sport, politics, business, media, and science building high-level political leadership for the full and effective protection of the Southern Ocean. Comprised of 25 member countries and the EU, the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) aims to establish a network of large-scale marine protected areas (MPAs) in the region. To date, only two have been established. The initiative is working to ensure consensus to designate three large-scale MPAs in the East Antarctic, the Weddell Sea, and the Antarctic Peninsula by 2021.
