CervicAId: Cervical Cancer AI Screening Aid

Project Summary

CervicAId focuses on improving women's health in Africa, aligning with the WHO's global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer while empowering communities. Targeting women aged 21-69 in underserved regions across Africa, the project bridges healthcare gaps through an AI-based mobile app, designed in collaboration with a Tunisian tech startup. Our app assists healthcare professionals (HPs) in Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA)- a method where a vinegar-like solution is applied to the cervix to highlight abnormal tissue. The app analyzes cervical images in real time, enabling early cancer detection. We are currently engaging African HPs to ensure the app is population-centered. Ready for implementation in Rwanda, the project has key partnerships with local health experts. Long-term goals include scaling across Africa while empowering communities to save lives through early diagnosis.
