As geopolitical fractures deepen, climate threats accelerate, and technological disruptions reshape societies, the world is facing a governance crisis. Traditional diplomatic frameworks are struggling to respond to the complexity of today’s challenges—from the war in Ukraine and rising populism to climate overshoot and governing artificial intelligence.
The Paris Peace Forum confronts these challenges by doing what no other platform does. Since 2018, the Paris Peace Forum has welcomed 147 heads of state and government, 57 leaders of international organizations, supported over 600 projects, and launched more than 30 multi-actor policy initiatives. In a landscape where other global convenings remain locked in legacy formats, the Forum has proven its ability to move beyond talk—and deliver results.
Today, the Paris Peace Forum is starting a new chapter. With its founding mission and operating model sharpened by a thorough internal and external review, the Forum is scaling up to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world and building the infrastructure to reinvent diplomacy, one that is multiactor and impact-driven. At the heart of this transformation is a mission that has never been more relevant: to originate, shape, and share responses to the global challenges that affect us all. The Forum delivers on this mission through three strategic pillars:
To develop and consolidate its role as a platform, the Forum is expanding its secretariat and strengthening its capacity to incubate, launch and host initiatives, so as to become the reference institution and toolbox for all those who want to bring together coalitions to act on the world when traditional organizations are insufficient or powerless.
In a contentious and shifting geopolitical landscape, its 8th annual edition – to be held on 29-30 October 2025 – will be devoted to building “New Coalitions for Peace, People and the Planet.” The Forum has always served as a bridge between North and South: it will also serve to link East and West.
On this occasion, and as a tribute to the tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement (COP21), the Paris Peace Forum will now provide a new anchor to the multiactor coalitions created under the One Planet Summit process (2017-2024).
To match its new ambition, the Paris Peace Forum aims to grow its annual budget to €15 million by 2028 and is creating a dedicated endowment fund (“Fonds de dotation”) of €50 to 100 million over time. This will provide long-term stability, allow for greater investment in high-impact initiatives, and ensure the Forum can remain agile and independent amid a turbulent environment.
A key priority for this next phase of the Forum will be to ensure that the private sector plays a full and active role in shaping global solutions. From AI governance to sustainable food systems, businesses are essential partners in coalitions that aim to build a peaceful and prosperous world.
In an age of rising division and weakening institutions, the Paris Peace Forum is charting a new course: one that bridges sectors, regions, and generations—transforming dialogue into solutions, and ideas into impact.
