YALAP is a youth led network that fosters climate resilience and peacebuilding in conflict affected countries. It brings together youth organizations and community leaders to co develop solutions for climate adaptation and conflict mitigation, particularly in fragile and low resource settings.
The initiative strengthens local governance by promoting youth participation, indigenous knowledge, and inclusive decision making. The network cover about 27 conflict affected climate impacted countries, the project has built a growing alliance of over 30 youth led organizations and has conducted trainings, research, and local campaigns. Partners targeted include UN agencies, grassroots organizations, and regional think tanks.
Our long term goal is to establish a youth governed, transnational platform that informs policy and mobilizes resources for locally led climate and peace efforts.
The Youth Alliance for Local Adaptation and Peace (YALAP) is an international youth led initiative originating from Sudan. It empowers young people in conflict affected and climate vulnerable regions to lead local adaptation and peacebuilding efforts. YALAP coordinates training, advocacy, and policy engagement, and serves as the core driver and implementing body behind this project.
