With more than 5 billion people using a mobile phone, and 7 billion covered by a mobile network, the reach of mobile technology remains unparalleled, providing individuals a unique platform to access essential communications and life-enhancing services. Led by the GSMA, We Care is a multi-stakeholder initiative where mobile operators in a market join forces and actively partner with policymakers to provide local solutions with a positive impact on society by leveraging the power of mobile technology. Since its launch in 2014, the initiative has delivered 30 projects involving 70 mobile operators and 30 governmental institutions across 21 countries, addressing 8 SDGs, e.g. Climate Action. Collaboration between public and private sectors is key to create and maintain an environment that supports data-driven economic growth, while advancing society and building trust in digital services.
