Sustainable Agricultural Production

Project Summary

PAS is an innovative project that promotes a new way of understanding and implementing sustainability on agricultural farms in Catalonia.

Based on the FAO’s SAFA (Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agriculture) methodology, the initiative promotes sustainable practices across three core dimensions: environmental, economic, and social. It does so through a digital tool that evaluates the sustainability performance of each farm using real data and provides tailored improvement recommendations.

The project actively fosters agroecology, strengthens ties to the local territory, promotes the efficient use of natural resources, and enhances the resilience of the agri-food system. Through this comprehensive and data-driven approach, PAS offers not only a robust methodology but also a practical pathway toward a more sustainable agricultural future.

Presentation of the Organization

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Government of Catalonia is responsible for public policies on agriculture, livestock, fisheries, food production, rural development, and forestry. Its core competences include promoting sustainability, innovation, and competitiveness in the agri-food sector.
