Our project supports local decision-makers and other local actors in Germany in constructively addressing migration-related conflicts in municipalities.
Local decision makers approach us with seemingly unsolvable problems related to increasing social tensions, violence and extremism. The project supports them to uncover diverse perspectives on a problem with a participatory, systemic conflict analysis. With the help of trained conflict consultants local communities develop concrete action plans and are accompanied during implementation, and thus in the long run build sustainable conflict resolution structures for a better future.
Around 20 municipalities across Germany have benefited from the project so far. We also offer training and foster networking and knowledge exchange in the field. From 2023 to 2026, our project is mainly funded by the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
Founded in 1996 by German peace and human rights groups, Pro Peace is today active in 13 countries in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. Civil society actors who are committed to peace and non-violence in conflicts form the focus of our work. We advise and support them, collaborate on projects and campaign together for sustainable peace policies. Since 2009, we use our expertise in international conflict transformation to advise and support local communities in Germany.
