Interfaith Dialogue: promotion of religious and cultural understanding, harmony and cooperation

Understanding and engaging with the "religious dimension" is an essential ingredient for building open, tolerant, resilient and peaceful societies within the boundaries of good governance and citizenship. It requires to boost engagement for ensuring respect for Freedom of Religion or Belief for everyone everywhere. It draws from the dissemination and sharing of inclusive knowledge on religious diversity, as well as the use of history to find new paths for inclusive societies. In this framework, the European Union encourages emerging platforms gathering academics, scholars, research centres, institutions and media from Europe and the surrounding regions, such as the European Academy of Religion and the FoRB Learning Platform. The EU also supports inter-cultural dialogue at the global level and enhance interreligious understanding through projects that value the contribution of civil society under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights.
