Global Diplomacy Lab

Global Diplomacy Lab, Federal Foreign Office, Germany
International
2018

We are 160 members from 65 countries working for a more inclusive diplomacy and connecting local stakeholders to global ideas. On site we tackle policy challenges, creating ready-for-action solutions which are adaptable to our own environments. Together we seek answers to questions such as “What should diplomacy look like in the future?” and “What competences do we need in order to define our scope of action more precisely?” – questions which are of vital importance to our partners, the Federal Foreign Office and our patron Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt, the Bosch Alumni Network, the Stiftung Mercator and the Global Leadership Academy of GIZ. That is why they help us, as outstanding members of their networks, to initiate and participate in meetings worldwide, fostering a permanent dialogue between ourselves, our partners and external stakeholders. Next up for us is the 9th Lab from 18 to 21 November in Chicago. Under the title “Strategies for Overcoming Urban Violence: Exploring Global Perspectives & Engaging for Local Prevention” we are working together with the City of Chicago, the Obama Foundation and local community partners to contribute to their efforts to address violence and segregation amongst the urban youth in Chicago. Our ultimate goal is for these strategies to serve as a common set of tools for other urban areas struggling with the same issues elsewhere in the world.
