The All-Atlantic Ocean Youth Ambassadors are a team of 23 early-career researchers and professionals from 15 countries connected to the Atlantic Ocean. The young people who comprise this diverse group are addressing the challenge of disconnect between civil society and the protection of the ocean, also known as the ‘emotional deficit’. It was agreed by the Ambassadors that at this critical point in time (where the globe is facing a climate and biodiversity crisis) that we needed to reignite the relationship between individuals and the ocean. In response to this, we have developed a novel approach to involve non-scientists and scientists alike in our campaign. This involves three key components: SHARING - Teaching the key principles of ocean literacy CONNECTING - Incorporating art, cultural practises, and storytelling ACTING - Addressing human impacts
