The Degrees Modelling Fund

Solar Radiation Modification (SRM) is a controversial proposal for reducing some of the impacts of climate change by reflecting a fraction of sunlight away from the Earth. Developing countries should play a central role in global efforts to understand SRM, yet most research and discussion have taken place in the world's wealthiest nations. The Degrees Modelling Fund (DMF) builds the capacity of developing countries to evaluate SRM. It supports scientists in the Global South as they study how SRM could affect their regions, enabling research projects in South America, South Asia, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. By building a collaborative global community of experts, the DMF is transforming the environment in which decisions about SRM will be made, ensuring informed representation from climate-vulnerable regions.
