Yodi is a social project that fights the digital divide with AI communication tools that allow for new types of services and interactions in local languages in Togo and West Africa. Collaborating with community data annotators to gather datasets in local languages on themes from healthcare to hate speech, the project’s custom data platform builds new models and fine-tunes open-source materials to meet client and partner needs.
The project has developed over 10 datasets for African languages, comprising of more than 2000 entries each. This effort has led to the creation of three language models, the attraction of over 1500 contact leads, and the formation of six new partnerships including service contracts and international technological alliances. The project has been recognized with six awards, scholarships, and sponsorships, and achieved a valuation of over $300,000 in assets. With a growing online community of more than 70 members, Yodi is positioned to bridge the digital divide.
Umbaji provides solutions and equipment in AI and robotics to companies in Togo and Africa with the ambition of contributing to socio-economic growth through new technologies.
