The Observatory monitors the spread of disinformation and fake news in Latin America as a form of digital, political, and gender violence whose objective is to delegitimize women participating in electoral processes and/or are active politically. This project seeks to support current and future female political leadership and ensure the integrity of democratic processes in this digital age. This initiative aims to monitor, analyze, and evaluate the threats and acts of disinformation against politically active women to develop strategies to mitigate their impact and reduce their frequency. The Observatory is a research-based advocacy model that will introduce this issue to the public agenda and influence domestic public policy in the LAC region. This study is currently taking place in Chile and will be replicated in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico.
