The Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund is an Abu Dhabi government agency established in the United Arab Emirates almost 10 years ago. It provides financial support to species conservation projects worldwide. The MBZ Fund is globally unique in that it is the only worldwide funding organization that focuses on species as the building blocks of life on earth with no bias of type, geography or affiliation of the applicant, and is able to give small grants with minimal bureaucracy. This enables maximum support for passionate individuals working on behalf of species in their natural habitat. The MBZ Fund is expanding its portfolio, allowing it to become an integral part of the environmental and diplomatic strategy of the Abu Dhabi Emirate. The Fund is now being established as the primary vehicle for managing and steering the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi’s foreign species/nature conservation projects and the Fund is developing its own portfolio of species conservation projects through international funding mechanisms.
