Pharmaceutical manufacturing in Africa

In April 2021, AU and the Africa CDC launched the Partnership for African Vaccine Manufacturing that seeks to mobilize financial partnerships; strengthen regional regulatory systems; increase technology transfer to manufacturers and develop African universities as premier vaccine research and development hubs. The initiative seeks to support this Partnership and build on lessons learned from the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plan for Africa endorsed by African Heads of State and Government in Accra in 2007.
