This project is crucial for indigenous and ethnic minority (IEM) communities to have better access to the data and information for exercising their rights to self-determination and self-governance. Storytelling with data enables communities to protect their collective interests and to engage in decision-making processes while raising public awareness. This project aims to expand the initiative to engage existing and new networks to enable the collection of data into a centralized repository for the region and to boost data literacy skills. ODC works with key indigenous peoples’ CSOs to upload resources on IEM to ODC’s platform and conduct a workshop and a seminar on data collection and digitization, and Indigenous Data Sovereignty. After attending the sessions, participants will understand the importance of data and contribute with the ones related to their communities.
