The introduction of the Justice For All Program/JFAP (Mobile Special Court Sittings in Prison) to adjudicate pre-trial cases towards prisons decongestion is one of the unique successful partnership between the State/Criminal Justice Institutions and CSO/POS Foundation in Ghana. This has reduced the remand prisoner population from 33% in 2007 to 14.5% as at August 2020, where other countries are replicating same after understudying the program. Amid COVID-19, POS Foundation in partnership with Ghana Prison Service, funded by GIZ and OSF donated Personal-Protective-Equipment and organized Trainings for Prison Officers and inmate as part of the means to prevent the spread of the pandemic of which Ghana’s Prisons have recorded no-case till date. The first Virtual JFAP Court by the Judicial Service and POS (Facilitators) is ongoing as part of the measures to decongest prisons amidst COVID-19.
