The Paris Peace Forum is a multi-stakeholder platform launched in 2018 that aims to respond to global challenges through, in particular, a large-scale annual event. Throughout the year, the Forum works to strengthen the governance of global commons such as climate, space or oceans, and to improve international management of global challenges, particularly those of digital and disruptive technologies. Its annual event, in fall, brings together heads of state, government and international organizations, as well as leaders of civil society and the private sector, to discuss political initiatives and concrete projects, with an emphasis on the participation of the global South.

 

The team of the permanent secretariat of the association, composed of varied and diverse profiles (diplomacy, public relations, communication, programming, operations, etc.), is currently looking for a Deputy Director Policy Initiatives to reinforce its teams.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

The person recruited will be responsible for the following tasks:

 

Operational Leadership and Management of Political Initiatives

  • Identify political initiatives that could be developed or supported by the Paris Peace Forum, in coordination with the Head of the Policy Department;
  • Coordinate the work and discussions contributing to the development and delivery of political initiatives by the respective initiative managers and officers;
  • Represent the Forum in external meetings related to political initiatives;
  • Integrate the work of the policy department within the Forum’s overall activities and ensure coordination with other departments (programming, projects, communication, etc.).

 

Team Management of the Political Initiatives Department

  • Provide operational supervision to the officers and managers of political initiatives;
  • Identify team reinforcement needs and actively participate in the recruitment of officers and initiative managers;
  • Manage workload, training, and professional development of the teams.

 

Fundraising

  • Assist the fundraising Department in its efforts to raise funds related to political initiatives;
  • Provide strategic support to the Executive Management on Forum development aspects.

 

PROFILE

 

  • Education Level: Master’s degree (Bac +5), such as Master II, IEP (Institute of Political Studies), or a specialized program;
  • Specialization Fields: International relations, political science, international law, development, or international cooperation; expertise in climate, digital (especially AI), or other global governance topics;
  • Experience working at a high level with governments, international organizations, large corporations, foundations, and academics.
  • Proven experience in creating, managing, or overseeing international projects with a political dimension.
  • Proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office Suite) and digital tools.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALITIES

 

  • Strong political analysis and project coordination skills;
  • Curiosity, entrepreneurial mindset, and enthusiasm for engaging with technical subjects;
  • Team management skills and ability to work collaboratively;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English (minimum C2 level);
  • Strong sense of organization, autonomy, and initiative;
  • Ability to adapt and work under tight deadlines, with a high capacity for workload management.

 

CONDITIONS

 

  • Full-time contract with a starting date as soon as possible.

  • The offices of the permanent secretariat of the Paris Peace Forum are located in Paris (15th arrondissement). It will be possible to telecommute for a maximum of 2 days per week, subject to approval by management.
