On the road to the N4G Summit

Policy initiative

The Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit is a pivotal global event dedicated to addressing the urgent issue of malnutrition. The next edition will be held on Paris on March 27 and 28 2025. This summit will convene world leaders, policymakers, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations to generate commitments and mobilize international support for improving global nutrition.

Why N4G Matters?

Despite progress, millions are still suffering from chronic undernutrition, acute malnutrition, and micronutrient deficiencies. Other millions are struck by non-communicable diseases that stem from overweight and obesity. For too many children worldwide, access to adequate nutrition is a matter of life and death. Malnutrition in its various forms is responsible for nearly half of all deaths in children under five, amounting to 3 million young lives lost each year. The economic costs of malnutrition are staggering, with some countries losing up to 15 % of their GDP annually due to diminished productivity and increased healthcare costs. These statistics are not just numbers; they represent real lives affected and futures compromised. The N4G Summit provides a unique platform to galvanize efforts, share innovative solutions, and foster collaborations aimed at eradicating malnutrition and promoting sustainable development.

The Role of the Paris Peace Forum (PPF)

The Paris Peace Forum (PPF) is honored to be an official partner of the N4G Summit and a member of its steering committee. PPF is committed to promoting active private sector participation in the Summit, facilitating discussions through an Independent Expert Panel that will provide prioritized action recommendations for policymakers and the various N4G Summit working groups, and leading a comprehensive mobilization and awareness campaign for the event.

Global Communication Campaign

In the lead-up to the summit, PPF will launch a comprehensive global communication campaign designed to raise awareness about the critical importance of nutrition. This campaign will aim to mobilize resources and drive public and political will, ensuring that the summit's messages resonate at every level of society. Through strategic partnerships with media organizations, influencers, and advocacy groups, the PPF will amplify the N4G message across diverse platforms, from digital media to grassroots communities.

Businesses and Nutrition Working Group

To facilitate meaningful private sector engagement, PPF, along with the Access to Nutrition Initiative (ATNI) and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), is co-leading the "Businesses and Nutrition" working group. Building on the foundation of the 2021 Tokyo N4G Business Constituency Group (BCG), this group will expand its scope to include diverse sectors and company sizes. The focus will be on developing SMART commitments to combat malnutrition, emphasizing the crucial role of businesses in this global effort and acknowledging that the fundamental issues of malnutrition cannot be resolved without the involvement of those who grow, manufacture, distribute, and market food to consumers. All actions of this group are undertaken in total transparency, and with the full support of the official N4G Summit governance.

Independent Expert Panel on Nutrition

PPF is establishing an "Independent Expert Panel on Nutrition," chaired by nutrition expert Mr. Shawn Baker (Chief Program Officer at Helen Keller Intl). This panel will support the summit's agenda by providing high-level insights and recommendations both for policymakers and the N4G Summit thematic working groups. The panel will focus on critical systems such as food, health, education, social protection, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), while addressing cross-cutting themes of gender, climate, and innovation.
