The Summit
Promoting inclusive and ethical AI governance
The AI Action Summit took place on February 10–11, 2025 in Paris, and addressed the ethical, social, and economic implications of AI, ensuring its benefits reach all of humanity. Leaders from governments, business, academia, and civil society tackled issues like inequality, misinformation, and the digital divide, with a focus on global north-south challenges.
The Paris Peace Forum brought a decisive contribution to the Summit as a multi-stakeholder coordinator and amplified diverse voices, especially from the Global South, notably bringing 50 projects for “AI for good” to the Grand Palais.
What is the AI Action Summit?
The 2025 AI Action Summit in Paris came at a critical moment, as artificial intelligence increasingly shaped the global economy, governance, and daily life. As part of an AI week that kicked off on February 6th, the Summit itself took place on February 10th and 11th at the Grand Palais and served as a vital platform for addressing the profound ethical, social, and economic implications of AI, ensuring its development benefited all of humanity.
By bringing together leaders from government, business, academia, and civil society, the Summit aimed to drive forward equitable and inclusive AI policies that addressed pressing challenges such as inequality, misinformation, and the digital divide, particularly in underserved regions of the world.
Why is the Forum contributing?
As a multi-stakeholder coordinator partnering with the Summit, we at the Paris Peace Forum drew on extensive experience to ensure that diverse voices, particularly from the Global South and civil society, were at the forefront of these discussions. With its established reputation as a convener of inclusive dialogue and a catalyst for innovative solutions, the Forum was uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between policymakers, innovators, and communities most affected by AI’s rapid evolution.
Its efforts helped ensure the Summit delivered actionable solutions rooted in fairness, transparency, and global cooperation – and we built on a solid foundation, as AI had played an increasingly large role in our programming, with 14 dedicated sessions over two days at the 2024 Paris Peace Forum.
