Justice for Victims in Ukraine

NORWEGIAN HELSINKI COMMITTEE (NHC)
Europe
2023

2023-24 Scale-up project

Overview

The Norwegian Helsinki Committee preserves testimonies, documents war crimes, identifies perpetrators, and provides information to international stakeholders.

Their aim is to support a transparent and robust process of justice and accountability for atrocities committed during the war in Ukraine.

The project’s strength lies in their extensive experience documenting war crimes; unique methodology; decades-long understanding of the region; and strong, firm partnerships across Ukraine and Eastern Europe.

Project's trajectory over past year

Since we presented the project at the Forum last year, we have geographically expanded to a whole new area in South Caucasus, implementing the same methodology and I-DOC database that analyses human rights violations and war crimes and identifies perpetrators.

We have also been approached by Itera, one of the largest IT companies of Norway, who wants to give us pro bono support.

Thanks to fruitful SCUP mentorship sessions we have sharpened our pitch, developed a more targeted fundraising strategy, and are approaching a new donor landscape with increased confidence.
