The digital revolution and the rise of social media have given violent extremists opportunities to spread their ideologies, plan attacks, and attract support. Combating violent extremism no longer only requires monitoring and arresting suspects, controlling borders, sharing information, investigating finances but also countering extremist propaganda and promoting positive narratives. This action will showcase EUs efforts supporting strategic communications responses as well as successful strategic communications campaigns, including working with the victims of terrorist violence and local political leaders.
