11:00 - 12:30 | Fondation USDT & Fondation Virchow - Next Generation for One Sustainable Health and Peace

The One Sustainable Health for All Foundation, the Virchow Foundation and the Fondation de France are co-organizing the Next Generation for One Sustainable Health and Peace Session within the 7th Edition of the Paris Peace Forum Conference held in Paris on November 11-12, 2024.

Its objective is to highlight why Health is a factor of Peace and to explain how the One Sustainable Health (OSH) approach, championed by the young generation of the OSH Forum, contributes to peace. This initiative fosters the convergence of a wide range of expertise, transcending geographic borders and bridging the gap between public and private sector professionals. The OSH Forum issues recommendations developed by its International Working Groups (IWG), which are endorsed by diverse organizations to influence public and private policy actions. Seven speakers will illustrate this collaborative approach, which will be broadcast primarily online.

15:00 - 16:30 | Focus 2030 - Reform of the international financial architecture: Big steps forward or status quo in simultaneously fighting poverty and climate change?

The combined impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and multiple conflicts has weakened developing countries’ capacity to manage their own futures by limiting their access to resources needed for public policies that address poverty and climate challenges. Due to severe budget constraints, 48 countries are now forced to allocate more resources to debt repayment than to healthcare or education.

In response, many voices are calling for a deep reform of the Bretton Woods institutions and multilateral development banks to mobilize new resources and better allocate existing ones. This need for reform comes as official development assistance from industrialized countries diminishes.

In June 2023, the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact proposed several initiatives to accelerate ongoing reforms, exploring new actors and instruments to address the funding gaps for development and climate action. This initiative is known as the Paris Pact for People and Planet (4P).

This Chatham House format workshop will assess the current progress and discuss the next steps ahead of the IDA replenishment, shortly after the annual meetings of the World Bank and IMF, and in anticipation of the 21st IDA replenishment.

By invitation only.

16:30 - 18:30 | ATLAS Lab Event - Roundtable on African Smallholder Farmers - What Financing for What Practices?

African agriculture faces a significant $200 billion annual funding gap, with smallholder farmers playing a pivotal role. This roundtable will gather high-level stakeholders from governments, development banks, and the private sector to discuss how to direct financial resources effectively to smallholder farmers, ensuring sustainable growth and food security in Africa.
