COVID-19 has simultaneously reduced revenues and increased the housework burden for Indigenous Women, while exposing their dire lack of access to essential services. This project will tackle the systemic socio-economic inequalities faced by Indigenous Women in Guatemala, Peru and Mexico. Rooted in intricate traditional textiles, it will weave an entrepreneurial fabric tailored to the post-COVID era through ancient communities. Weaving the Recovery will nurture traditional knowledge and collective well-being while providing Indigenous Women with the skills they need to access varied markets, trade ethically and become leaders in the post-COVID19 tourism recovery. The resulting toolkit, experience gained and partners’ unwavering commitment will ensure its replication in other regions, bringing its benefits to other women and accelerating tourism’s sustainable and equitable recovery.
