Dr Peter M. Wagner is Head of the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) at theEuropean Commission. Prior to this, he was in charge of coordinating work on the fightagainst COVID-19 and Head of the Clearing house for medical equipment (COVID-19) in theSecretariat General (SG) of the European Commission. He was head of the Support Groupfor Ukraine in DG Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) during theperiod of 2015-2020.Dr Peter M. Wagner’s past experiences also include the European Commission’s TaskForce on Greece (TFGR), as well as leading the unit in charge of defense, aeronautic andmaritime industries, in DG Enterprise and Industry (now DG GROW). Prior to joining theCommission in 1999, he was a Researcher at the Center for Applied Policy Research (CAP)based in Munich, Germany, following several years as a journalist and editor for a number ofnewspapers.Dr. Peter M. Wagner holds a Ph.D. in political science, history and psychology from FreiburgUniversity.
