Chairman of The Board, Caelus Foundation
Speaker
Biography
As Chairman of the Board, Micah oversees the Caelus Foundation’s efforts to bring people together across socioeconomic and political borders to enhance a deeper collective understanding of outer space and the benefits of space technology. This includes facilitation of Track II diplomatic dialogue between geopolitical rivals, as well as strategic support for emerging spacefaring nations that are seeking space-related economic growth. During the first decade of his career, Micah led the creation and annual updates of the standard model for the global space economy, which is currently estimated at more than half a trillion US dollars. He subsequently co-founded a strategic consulting firm and focused on the intersection of space and finance. Responding to demand for space investment opportunities, he created the underlying stock index for the world’s only pure-play exchange-traded fund (ETF) that focuses on space, which trades on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange with the ticker “UFO.” In his various roles, Micah has advised all types of stakeholders — governments, companies, investors, academia, and local communities — as to how they can participate in space-related activities. Micah holds a Master of Arts in International Science and Technology Policy (with concentrations in space policy and security policy) from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, and a Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College, where he double-majored in Astronomy and Political Science.
