Biography
Ana Revenco is the Director of the Centre for Strategic Communication and Countering Disinformation, appointed in October 2023. From August 2021 to July 2023, she served as the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, a term marked by managing the UA refugees crisis and navigating hybrid threats of unprecedented complexity. She played a pivotal role in safeguarding national security, successfully steering Moldova through these unprecedented challenges.Under her leadership, the Ministry secured key international agreements, including the deployment of a Frontex mission to Moldova, the establishment of the European Union Partnership Mission and the Agreement on the RM membership with the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Ms. Revenco also launched the EU Support Hub for Internal Security and Border Management, integrating the fight against hybrid warfare into Moldova’s internal affairs agenda. Prior to her ministerial role, Ms. Revenco served as National Defense and Security Adviser to President Maia Sandu and was appointed Secretary of the Supreme Security Council between January and August 2021. Ms. Revenco also headed the Center for Combating Trafficking in Persons within the General Police Inspectorate (GPI) from 2012 to 2015, playing a key role in coordinating the national anti-trafficking strategy and leading efforts against organized crime. Her expertise in combating trafficking is recognized internationally, including her work as a member of GRETA and as the founder and director of the International Center La Strada Moldova, an NGO dedicated to human rights protection with special focus on violent crimes against women and children.
