Stepping up Child Safety Online
Being offline is no longer an option for many children and youth today. The digital revolution has brought them easier access to education, information and knowledge and new ways to express themselves and socialize. But these benefits also come with serious risks. According to the 2023 Global Threat Assessment online, child sexual exploitation, abuse and bullying keep escalating worldwide, in both scale and methods. After an overview of international initiatives to step up child safety online, this session will focus on a few projects by companies and NGOs, including updates and results from the Children Online Protection Lab launched at the Paris Peace Forum in 2022. Lastly, Ministers from European countries will cap the session by a joint commitment to ensuring children online safety.
