The Rapid Response Mechanism for Higher Education in Emergencies (RRM) is a multi-stakeholder project in the making, aimed at providing more, better, and faster academic opportunities for students who are either in vulnerable situations or face humanitarian emergencies created by conflicts, and natural disasters.
Organization
The GLOBAL PLATFORM FOR SYRIAN STUDENTS (GP4SYS) was launched in 2013. It is a multi-stakeholder initiative with a threefold aim: awarding scholarships to Syrian students to allow them to complete their higher education; boosting academic opportunities for students in forced mobility due to conflict, persecution and natural disasters; make advocacy at global level to put the topical issue of higher education in emergencies high in the international agenda. Since its launch the GP4SYS has already awarded more than 550 annual scholarships, participated or organized in more than 65 international events and it has launched a Rapid Response Mechanism for Higher Education in Emergencies (RRM) that is now being finalized to be fully operational by 2021.
