Description
COVID-19 has thrust health care workers into the global spotlight. Essential to the pandemic response, yet too often denied the protection and conditions needed to work effectively, health workers embody the crisis and opportunity of our era. Nurses, community health workers, and home carers are more likely to be women and migrants, increasing their exposure to inequality and abuse. As countries scramble to train and replenish their health workforces, a new era of regional and global cooperation is needed to protect and develop this most essential public good.
