Description
The Christchurch Call, launched in Paris just two months after the horrific attacks in New Zealand on 15 March 2019, took an innovative approach to eliminating terrorist and violent extremist content online while ensuring the protection of fundamental human rights, including freedom of expression, privacy, and rights of victims. This was achieved by creating a framework for collective action between governments, tech companies and civil society, which new supporters continue to join. This session will provide a summary of the actions undertaken since the last in-person meeting (UNGA 2019) and present the result of the consultation open to all Christchurch Call supporters conducted to define the initiative’s next steps.”
