Project presentation
The Barranquilla+20 Foundation with the support of the Gates Foundation, develops the initiative called WOMEN FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE that considers the social effects of gender equity in the fight against climate change, empowering and training 15 women leaders from Colombia strategic socio-environmental contexts.
The initiative has a positive impact in promoting the participation, recognition and appreciation of young women in the generation of climate justice, providing the necessary input for political advocacy for both local, national and international climate policies.
This initiative is articulated with the gender and climate action plan of the UNFCCC, through non-violent mobilization with a gender perspective, access to information and participation; actions that converge with the human rights of women.
Founded in 2012 and legally registered in 2018, we have organized and supported grassroots movements, campaigns, projects and policies for climate action and justice, defense of territory and biodiversity at local and national levels in Colombia and LAC.

(The project) has been great, because it is a pioneering exercise in Colombia due to the power that feminist activism acquires. The climate crisis is also a political issue.
