Current environmental and social crises are the result of businesses & investors systematically making decisions that do not consider people and the planet. We need new systems and a concerted push to enable these actors to direct financial flows towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The collaborative SDG Impact initiative has devised a bold, actionable strategy for aligning and leveraging private sector capital for the SDGs. SDG Impact is already driving change at the systems level and transforming the way we do business and invest.

SDG Impact’s vision is of a world where sustainability and the SDGs are at the heart of private sector value creation, where ALL private sector capital is deployed responsibly and sustainably creating positive impact for people and the planet, AND a portion of that capital is directed to where it is needed most – closing the SDG financing gap.

Organization presentation

As the United Nations lead agency on development, UNDP works in 170 countries to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. We help countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities and institutional capabilities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNDP also collaborates with partners across both the public and private sectors to strengthen the effective governance of financing for SDGs and promote the investment of >$1 trillion of capital to the SDGs by 2025.

Impact

SDG Impact has produced a family of global & independent SDG Impact Standards and 23 SDG Investor Maps across the developing world that highlight potential investment opportunities aligned to SDGs.
