Gender Mainstreaming in Indian Foreign Policy

Project presentation

The concept of Feminist Foreign Policy (FFP) is gaining global traction. Diverse voices from the global south that offer unique experiences and lived realities can add to the growing understanding on how a FFP could change the trajectory of governance to make it more impactful, inclusive and lasting. Through extensive research, consultations and deep discussions with a range of stakeholders, Kubernein Initiative has found evidence of a gender lens in some areas of India’s foreign policy that can potentially be widened, as well as inspire other emerging economies. With like-minded partners we have released a groundbreaking report outlining some potential areas for further engagement and are currently deepening our work to provide more focused recommendations.

Organization presentation

Kubernein Initiative, a female founded boutique geopolitical advisory, based in India, seeks to strengthen intellectual capabilities in an increasingly multilateral world. Our vision is to build an organisation that looks at the world as interconnected and considers critical questions with a wider perspective. We employ our deep understanding of India within a geopolitical global framework, supplemented by rigorous research, analysis and advice from a proven network of experts.

Gender mainstreaming must be institutionalised through concrete mechanisms, policies, budgets and monitoring in all parts of Foreign Policy architecture and establishment.
