Reinforcing democracy in the age of Covid-19: Perspectives from the OECD Observatory of Civic Space

Friday 12 november 2021 14:00 - 14:45
Launched in 2019 at the Paris Peace Forum, the OECD Observatory of Civic Space will lead a forward-looking discussion on how the protection of core civic space rights enables democracies to deliver for citizens. The panel will discuss the following questions: In what ways has the Covid-19 crisis led to opportunities and challenges for civic space? What are the prospects for civic space in the response and recovery phases? And why is safeguarding democratic norms – even in mature democracies – of critical concern right now?
