Age of Unpeace: Preserving international cooperation for a more peaceful future
Thursday 11 november 2021 15:45 - 18:30With the end of the Cold War and the blossoming of globalization, it was hoped democracy would prevail and that higher connectivity among nations would lead to peace. But the opposite happened: interdependence was used as a tool to play the traditional power games, from sanctions to cyberwar, and multilateralism took a step back. This session will ask how we can wrest a more hopeful future from the age of unpeace and defend global cooperation. This panel is dedicated to the memory of Vartan Gregorian (1934-2021), President of the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
